Here Are The Facts:
• It is a multi-layered municipal organization that has no accountability except for the vote every five years.
• It has been a political stronghold for patronage and nepotism appointments since 1990.
• The DRP Merchant Board does not vote for DRP Director.
• There is a lack of transperency in process that chooses the Director.
• That is taxation without representation when Merchants can’t choose their own employee.
• The Special Benefits District tax is paid by all but beneficial to very few.
• The DRP has partnered with their political allies on Center St. and Wales St and not much more.
• The Rutland City Charter has a position for City Planner which has not been filled since the DRP arrived.
• The New Director of the Creative Economy is now being paid to take care of certain functions the DRP has failed.
• The DRP has failed to retain business and fill empty spaces.
• In published minutes of meetings, Mike Coppinger reports that monies thought to be available were gone with no explanation given.
• The last Director and staff of DRP quit under shadow of personal/ political/ media impropriety but some are still working within the system.
• FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE was created by The Creative Economy and ruined by the DRP after alienating its grassroots volunteer base.
• The same incompetence will continue for FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE this summer if The DRP remains in place.
• Rutland City needs a fresh start from years of the same loosing team… The DRP has stood in the way of positive progress since it began.
