This is Thomas Paine’s final thought before he introduced “Common Sense” to the colonists in 1776. “Who the Author of this Production is, is wholly unnecessary to the Public, as the Object for Attention is the DOCTRINE ITSELF, not the MAN. Yet it may not be unnecessary to say, That he is unconnected with any Party, and under no sort of Influence public or private, but the influence of reason and principle.” The most effective information is brought to us under these guidelines. “Common Sense” was a prelude to The Declaration of Independence and the first publication that advocated America be a sovereign nation.
The best way to protect our future is to know our past. If we make the same mistakes over and over we are truly doomed by the choices we make for or against democracy. Patrick Henry said “Give me liberty, or give me death.” Let us not betray Patrick Henry. Welcome Rutland Reality!
